Nu kommer vår egen sökmotor
Kanske såg du igår att Wikipedia-grundaren Jimmy Wales har planer på en ny sökmotor?
Projektet går under namnet Search Wikia och beskrivs med följande ord:
“Search is part of the fundamental infrastructure of the Internet. And, it is currently broken. Why is it broken? It is broken for the same reason that proprietary software is always broken: lack of freedom, lack of community, lack of accountability, lack of transparency.
Here, we will change all that.”
På projektets webbsida ber de nu om hjälp med att bygga denna “open source”-sökmotor med “people-powered search results”. Jag hoppas att de ror båten i hamn, det skulle vara ett riktigt spännande alternativ till Google med flera.

“A source tells us that the working name for the project was “WikiSearch” until recently. It’s clear that Wikiasari will be focused on quality first, depth second. Search results will include tag based navigation, the top three results will be wikipedia content, and the remaining results are determined by sites wikipedia considers to be “reputable” because they are external reference links from wikipedia pages.”

In fact, Jimmy Wales, said that his search engine has nothing to do with Amazon and that the screenshots circulating have nothing to do with Wikiasari. More information here: http://search.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
