DVD med köp-tillvalet att ladda ned en kopia
Amerikanska Wal-Mart testar en ny modell för filmförsäljning. Den som köper “Superman Returns” på DVD kan dessutom köpa till nedladdningar. Upplägget är, för att uttrycka det dimplomatiskt… annorlunda.
“When customers buy “Superman Returns” at Wal-Mart, they can choose to pay $1.97 more to play it on portable devices, $2.97 more to play it on PCs or laptops, or $3.97 more to play it on either portable devices or PCs/laptops.”
När du väl har laddat hem filmen kommer nästa del i det annorlunda upplägget. Din dator kopplas ihop med Wal-Marts server och via internet kontrolleras att du har rätt att kika på din film. Vill du se filmen på en annan dator måste du flytta på din licens.
“Any movie that is downloaded from Wal-Mart will be stored in a user’s Wal-Mart Video Download Manager as well as their Windows Media Library. Users can only have the movie on one computer at a time, but they can re-register the license on on any number of computers, meaning it is possible to play it on the computer with the license and then move it to another computer only if you move the license. Kind of confusing.”
I summa betyder detta att några kopior av din film låter sig inte göras. Du får köpa till dessa extra. De extra kopiorna kan du bara kika på när du kopplat ihop din dator med Wal-Marts server. Ett skolexempel i att göra det jobbigt för kunden.
Återigen en modell som visar att piratkopierat är både billigast och smidigast. Tyvärr.
